Development of communication routes

Roads and communication routes were the first projects to be carried out by Afrique Future which continues its activity in this field. Tracks and engineering structures form the communication network in Cameroon. Just a few major roads are paved, such as the provincial highway between Douala and Yaoundé.

So far, most villages are only accessible via footpaths or tracks that are so badly damaged that they are no longer suitable for vehicles.

Health

AFRIQUE FUTURE acts by building well-equipped hospitals in deprived neighbourhoods or in the bush, as well as rural dispensaries. The association employs competent staff and provides medicines.

The nursing staff benefit from pedagogical training in order to better inform their patients on the importance of health practices, on the “real” origins of illnesses and on the interest of receiving “serious” medical treatment as early as possible.

Education and schooling

Even if villagers logically privileged the construction of bridges, tracks and health centres, schooling remains the absolute necessity for everyone’s future and that of the nation.

To build a school at Ngodi-Si was the main concern for Abbé Emmanuel who, as a child, had experienced 18-km walks to and from the primary school.

Welcome centres

Wishing to lighten the financial burden of Western dependence, AFRIQUE FUTURE CAMEROUN has built three welcome and resourcing centres. The welcome is warm, the facilities offer good comfort, and the rates are attractive.

Développement des voies de communication

Les pistes et les ouvrages d’art constituent le réseau des voies de communication au Cameroun. Seuls quelques grands axes tels que celui appelé « axe lourd » reliant Douala à Yaoundé sont goudronnés.

La grande majorité des villages n’est encore accessible que par sentiers de marche ou par pistes dégradées au point de n’être plus carrossables.

Santé

AFRIQUE FUTURE agit en construisant des hôpitaux bien équipés dans les quartiers défavorisés ou en brousse, en construisant des dispensaires ruraux dont AFRIQUE FUTURE assure le fonctionnement par du personnel compétent et la fourniture des médicaments, en assurant une formation pédagogique au personnel soignant chargé d’expliquer aux patients l’importance de l’hygiène de vie, de tenter de les convaincre de l’origine « véritable » des affections et l’intérêt de se faire soigner « sérieusement » le plus tôt possible.

Education et scolarisation

Si les villageois ont fait preuve de logique en demandant d’abord des ponts, des pistes et des centres de soins, il n’en reste pas moins que l’école est indispensable au devenir de chacun et à celui de la nation.

Construire une école à Ngodi-Si fut la préoccupation première de l’Abbé Emmanuel qui avait expérimenté la marche à pied sur 9 km alors qu’il était petit.

Les centres d’accueil

Désireuse d’alléger financièrement sa dépendance occidentale, AFRIQUE FUTURE CAMEROUN a construit trois centres d’accueil et de ressourcement.

L’accueil y est chaleureux, les installations offrent un bon confort, les tarifs sont particulièrement intéressants.
